Muzaffarabad: World Science Day for Peace and Development was commemorated under the aegis of Institute of Dialogue, Development and Diplomatic Studies (IDDDS) here on other day.

A seminar comprised of all girls students of Superior group of colleges Muzaffarabad including faculty were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Director IDDDS Dr. Waleed Rasool said that this day is celebrated around the world for the promotion of peace through science.

He apprised the students about recent situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) where more than 8 million people are under curfew and military siege for the last 99 days.

He said that today we are celebrating this day in Azad Jammu and Kashmir while our children in IOK are not even allowed to come out from their houses and all educational institutes are closed since 5th August 2019 when Indian government abrogated the article 370 and 35-A which gave special autonomous status to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He maintained that development is not about making new buildings but to develop concept and thinking of our youngsters for their better future.

He said, “Peace and development are correlated with each other and students must emphasize with devotion and dedication for peace and development in South Asia including Kashmir issue.”

He stated that Muslims remained super power three times since preaching of Islam started, he said that the decline of Muslim rule was their lack of interest towards studies.

He reiterated that we should not discard the sacrifices of our brave soldiers who give their red hot blood on borders for our safety, “we should unite like a nation for development and peace around the globe.”

Executive Director Superior Group of Colleges Syed Solat Abbas Naqvi on the occasion praised the endeavors of IDDDS, saying that such kind of events play a vital role for awareness among students. He said that we must celebrate all international days so we can have better knowledge about international events and we can also participate for Sustainable Development Goals.

Faiza Gillani, Rashid Ahmed, Faseeh Bukhari, officers of IDDDS and superior college and large number of students were also present on the occasion.
