Human rights advocacy is the cornerstone of iddds’s work for peace building and giving voice to the voiceless. The Human Rights Desk at iddds regularly monitors, documents and disseminates information about incidents of human rights violation in Indian occupied Kashmir to the United Nations Special Rapporteur, United Nations Human Rights Council, and Office of the High commissioner on Human Rights, global think tanks, human rights watchdogs and other stakeholders. Since 2005, iddds has been regularly publishing yearly and quarterly reports, pamphlets, and handbills on human rights violations which are widely circulated and appreciated at national and International level. iddds delegation regularly attends sessions of Human Rights Council in Geneva and has developed a close liaison with UN agencies.
At home, iddds organizes conferences, seminars, and workshops to educate local communities and highlight the plight of people of Kashmir. The organization provides means of peaceful expression to political activists, scholars, and students on the Kashmir cause.
At the International level, Kashmir Institute facilitates seminars and conference in Geneva and other places on different subjects of human rights, inviting leaders of International stature and International human rights experts to express their feeling on the human rights situation of Indian occupied Kashmir.
